The Dementia Friendly Community Coalition of Marinette County (DFCC) is a group of healthcare professionals, community members, advocates for senior health and wellness, who support Wisconsin's statewide efforts to improve the lives of those living in our communities who suffer from Alzheimer's and other dementias.

Casey has worked in healthcare for 23 years, beginning as a social worker before working 9 years as an admission director in a Green Bay Skilled Nursing Facility. He has been with Unity Hospice as their Business Development Team Lead and a member of the DFCC since 2019, President since January of 2025. Casey’s main goal in working with

He has been with Unity Hospice as their Business Development Team Lead and a member of the DFCC since 2019, President since January of 2025. Casey’s main goal in working with the DFCC is to reduce the stigma associated with Dementia and bring education to both the professional and public sector. He is also a purple angel trainer and member of two other county Dementia Coalitions.

June is a Dementia Friendly Community Coalition board member and Vice President, and a Purple Angel Program Trainer. As a past caregiver for her husband Richard during their journey with his dementia, she is also the facilitator of the local Care & Share Alzheimer's Support Group, and a Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma.

Lisa is honored to be a part of the Dementia Friendly Community Coalition and help make our communities dementia friendly.
She serves as Treasurer for the coalition and is also the Director of Psychosocial Services at Unity Hospice, where she has worked for over 16 years.

Lisa Spencer accepted the split Dementia Care / information and assistance specialist role within the Marinette County ADRC in August 2025 which will allow her to pursue her passion for Dementia advocacy and awareness. Prior to accepting her current role, Lisa spent roughly 3 years working in the County’s Comprehensive Community Services
Lisa Spencer accepted the split Dementia Care / information and assistance specialist role within the Marinette County ADRC in August 2025 which will allow her to pursue her passion for Dementia advocacy and awareness. Prior to accepting her current role, Lisa spent roughly 3 years working in the County’s Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) department as well as being the Mental Health Court Coordinator. Lisa began working with elderly and disabled population during her high school years, specifically in memory care as a medication technician within Brookridge Heights memory care unit. While employed with Brookridge, she completed the Dementia Live training and is looking forward to sharing this experience with the Marinette area community and families/ friends of those living with dementia. Lisa is also excited to be a trainer for the Purple Angel campaign. Finally, Lisa is a proud member of the Dementia Friendly Community Coalition (DFCC). In her free time, Lisa shares her affinity of horses by giving riding lessons and coaching the Marinette Equestrian Team.

Marilynn is a Dementia Friendly Community Coalition Board Member, a community volunteer, retired trust administrator, and a business owner. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to help area families connect to community services.

Barb has been an integral member of the DFCC since the Coalition’s inception in 2016. Barb has supported the mission of creating a more dementia friendly Marinette County by actively embracing many of the Coalition’s projects including the Memory Movies, Purple Angel Dementia Friendly Business Training, Comfort Bags and the Sensory Park.

Barb, through her employment at the ADRC of Marinette County has also solidified the DFCCs partnerships with many area community groups.

Derek Schimming serves as the Operating Director for the Marinette, Wisconsin office of Cornerstone Caregiving, bringing nearly 20 years of healthcare experience and a deep passion for serving others. Derek Schimming serves as the Operating Director for the Marinette, Wisconsin office of Cornerstone Caregiving, bringing nearly 20 years of healthcare experience and a deep passion for serving others. Derek began his healthcare journey at just 19 years old and quickly discovered his calling in caring for those who need support most. Through his work with Cornerstone, he has had the privilege of helping individuals and families throughout rural communities remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their homes. Derek is passionate about supporting seniors, caregivers, and those impacted by dementia, and is honored to serve on the Dementia Friendly Community Coalition Board to help strengthen resources, awareness, and support for the community. The Purple Angel Dementia Friendly program aims to educate the community and local businesses through training sessions about dementia and how to assist those with the disease.
To assist in emergencies or high stress situations, the DFCC has created comfort bags that contain sensory items that help to calm those living with dementia during stressful situations.
